To be honest, we aren’t fascinated by magic because of the deception. What it really is is the instant when the brain fails to make the connections. Our brains are smart, and thus we always try to draw a line, for instance, a sequence. Cause and effect. An unbroken line from point A to point B. So, when something occurs, and the line is not visible, the brain stops thinking for a while. That moment of stopping is enchanting. That moment of stopping is what we label as magic.
